HOUSTON LOW INCOME SCHOOL EDUCATION

THE ESTABLISHED HOUSTON LOW INCOME SCHOOL EDUCATION

Welcome to Chinquapin Prep, one of the nation’s most established private college boarding schools focused on underserved students, offering the highest quality Houston low-income school education available here in the local community and beyond.

Chinquapin Prep was established 50 years ago with one thought in mind — that income should not dictate the outcome of a student’s educational opportunities and development.

There are many underserved communities and families throughout the Houston area and beyond. We want to reach these highly-motivated, college-bound students with our low income school education in Houston TX, ensuring that they are equipped with the educational tools they need regardless of their family’s financial standing.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide a high-quality college-preparatory education to able and motivated youth from low-income families in the greater Houston area. Through rigorous curriculum and an emphasis on community service and earning what one receives, we aim to produce responsible, well-educated citizens who will become constructive leaders in their communities.

For nearly 50 years

Chinquapin Prep has provided economically disadvantaged youth from the Houston area with the opportunity for a better future through education.

why your houston low income school donation is so important

Chinquapin Prep is fueled by the generosity of individuals and foundations. As a privately funded institution, we rely on each low income school donation in Houston TX to maintain the operations of our school while providing sliding scale tuition for families.

This means that families pay what they can, with the average family at Chinquapin Prep paying roughly $500 a year. Our diverse student body features incredibly gifted, bright and motivated students that face financial hardships, with at least 80 percent of students qualifying for free or reduced lunch.

By donating to Chinquapin Prep, and furthering our mission to provide quality Houston low income school education, you are ensuring that these students are able to receive the training needed to find success in the ranks of higher education, and ultimately in their professions.

We provide students with skills that will help them get to, and through, college successfully. Our college counselors even work closely with each student to personalize their college application experience and help them find an institution that will best serve them.

Our model for low-income school education in Houston TX

Because we equip our students to find success in college, our institution emulates one. Students take midterms and finals instead of STAAR testing. Teachers hold office hours, where students can seek one-on-one assistance and faculty live on campus.

Students have a sense of ownership within our school because they are responsible for the daily and weekly upkeep of campus. This is also a way to spare money from our shoe-string budget so that all of our donations can go into giving students access to this high-quality educational experience.

Please consider giving to Chinquapin Prep

We invite you to further explore the transforming nature of Chinquapin Prep and how we have changed the lives of our students and alumni. Financial and socio-economic barriers should never stop motivated, gifted students from reaching their full potential, and Chinquapin Prep is doing something about it.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and for changing the lives of our students by furthering our Houston low-income school education.
