The Chinquapin Preparatory School Science Department is dedicated to fostering a love of science by providing students with a strong foundation in scientific knowledge and essential scientific practices. The Social Studies Department guides students to become well-informed and conscious members of society through education of civics, economics, geography, and history. Teachers will provide historical documents and data for students to analyze and examine with an education that considers an inclusive environment for students to explore concepts of the world around them. Our goal is to prepare students for college life and beyond with the tools to engage positively and thoughtfully in the diverse interdependent world that we live in.

At Chinquapin Preparatory School, the Spanish Department is committed to providing a comprehensive and culturally rich curriculum that caters to the diverse linguistic backgrounds of our students. Spanning from 8th to 11th grade, our program is designed to cultivate linguistic proficiency, critical thinking, cultural awareness, and effective communication skills in both heritage Spanish speakers and non-native learners.

For our heritage Spanish speakers, our curriculum is structured to foster the development of Academic Language Proficiency, literary analysis, critical thinking, analytical writing, and advanced grammar and orthographic skills. Through a deep exploration of the cultures found across Spanish-speaking countries and territories, students engage with authentic materials and texts to enhance their understanding and appreciation of the Spanish language and its diverse contexts. Our goal is to empower students to achieve academic language proficiency in Spanish, equipping them for success in academic and professional communities beyond Chinquapin.

For non-native speakers, our curriculum prioritizes comprehensible input, meaningful interpersonal communication development, and cultural awareness. Through immersive experiences and interactive learning activities, students actively engage in authentic language use and cultural exploration. By fostering a supportive and communicative classroom environment, we aim to cultivate bilingualism and empower students to effectively communicate in Spanish through interpersonal interactions.
