Residence Life Program

Residence Life
Because Chinquapin’s mission is to help students prepare for college and be strong members of their community, we believe that providing a Res Life program further equips our students to transition between home and college.
We offer Monday through Friday boarding for middle and high school students. Our Residence Life director and dorm parents operate similarly to college resident advisors. The boarding program allows older students to assume leadership roles while building strong relationships and life skills.
Boarding at Chinquapin has been a transformative experience for me. It provides a structured schedule and a focused environment that motivates me to stay on top of my work. The opportunity to live, study, and bond with my fellow boarders is something genuinely unique, creating friendships and experiences that I wouldn’t find anywhere else. Growing closer to my classmates and gaining the independence to push myself has made Chinquapin’s boarding program an invaluable part of my journey.
We expect our boarding students to be independent, mature, and demonstrate strong executive functioning skills, including time management and study habits. Our students understand they are a part of our community, so their behavior and contributions matter.
Our buses pick up students for our boarding program on Monday morning, and they depart campus on Fridays at 2:30 pm.
From the Res Life Director

As a student at Chinquapin Preparatory School, my day is a balance of academics, sports, and bonding with friends. Living on campus during the week means I’m constantly surrounded by peers and teachers, making it feel like a second home. We have structured study sessions that help us stay on top of our schoolwork, but there’s also plenty of time for fun. Whether it’s playing sports, participating in clubs, or just hanging out in the common areas, there’s always something happening. The sense of community here is really strong, and it feels great to be part of a place where everyone supports each other.
Living away from home during the week was a big change at first, but now I love it. Having my teachers living on campus too means I can always ask for help if I need it, and they really get to know us as individuals. We eat meals together in the dining hall, which is a great time to relax and catch up. The weekends are special because we get to go home and spend time with our families, but by Sunday night, I’m usually excited to come back and see my friends. Chinquapin is more than just a school—it’s a community where I feel I truly belong.
