HOUSTON PRIVATE DAY SCHOOL

THE BEST PRIVATE DAY SCHOOL IN HOUSTON TX

Welcome to Chinquapin Prep, a Houston private day school that, for a half century, has provided a unique education model to effectively serve Houston’s promising students from underserved families.

At Chinquapin, we stand firmly to the belief that income does not determine outcome. We provide the students at our private day school in Houston TX with small class sizes and a rigorous curriculum in order to keep them engaged in their learning. Chinquapin Prep equips students, not just to graduate from high school, but to complete college and find success in the professional realm.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide a high-quality college-preparatory education to able and motivated youth from low-income families in the greater Houston area. Through rigorous curriculum and an emphasis on community service and earning what one receives, we aim to produce responsible, well-educated citizens who will become constructive leaders in their communities.

For nearly 50 years

Chinquapin Prep has provided economically disadvantaged youth from the Houston area with the opportunity for a better future through education.

HOW OUR HOUSTON PRIVATE SCHOOL COLLEGE PREP INSTITUTION IS FUNDED:

Chinquapin Prep is privately funded through a combination of foundation grants and individual donations. The funds that we raise not only go to the school’s operations budget, but they also include the annual tuition (~$16,000).

Families contribute to their child’s tuition on a sliding scale. Most families pay roughly $500 a year to gain access to our top-notch private school college prep in Houston TX. If a student’s family is unable to cover any tuition, students have an opportunity to work around campus for credit.

Admission into our Houston private day school is merit-based, and our team works hard to sift through schools all over the Houston area, and surrounding districts, to find the most highly-motivated students that need additional support to achieve their goal of going to, and thriving in, college.

Our philosophy with these students include some of the following:

  • We strongly believe that income does not determine the outcome.
  • We provide students with skills that will help them get to, and through, college successfully and lead a fulfilling life.
  • College counselors work hand-in-hand with students to personalize the college application experience, tailored to each student’s specific needs.
  • College advisors guide students toward the best-fit college, write recommendation letters and help with other aspects of the college application process.

In order to graduate from Chinquapin, a student must be accepted to a four-year college or university, and many of our students go on to study are prestigious institutions, like Harvard and MIT.

The unique model of our private day school in Houston TX

Everything we do here at Chinquapin Prep emulates the college experience in a way: our students take mid-terms and finals, instead of STAAR testing. Our teachers set up office hours, faculty live on campus and students have a sense of ownership because they are contributing members of the community — they are responsible for the daily upkeep/maintenance of the campus.

Without our students, our campus would not function, operating costs would exceed our ability to raise funds. Students and teachers are on a first-name basis. We are a tight-knit community working together toward the same overall goal: college graduation.

We are molding college-ready adults and invite you to help. Explore our application process or consider making a generous donation to further the efforts of Chinquapin Prep and our Houston private day school.
